Who is QOOP?
Fundprinting.com is a QOOP, Inc. website. QOOP is an on-demand printer and can be visited at http://www.qoop.com.
I don't know anything about printinghow do I get started?
We have a short "how to build your book" video that provides an overview of the process and demonstrates how you can quickly and easily create your documents. View the video.
Why do I want serialization in my books?
Fundprinting.com allows you to add book numbers to the covers of your books and the inside pages. So, say you need 500 books, and you want to start on book no. 201, you can number the covers and pages "Copy No. 201", followed by "Copy No. 202" for the next book, and so on. This will save your organization time by not having to number books by hand. You will also have the additional security of having the book number on the pages, which will make it obvious if someone makes copies of a particular book since the book number will also be on the photocopied pages. You can also add watermarks such as "Do Not Copy", "CONFIDENTIAL" or your watermarked logo to the pages.
How will my books look when printed?
The books will look great! If you have potential investors or clients who need to see Financials, PPM's, or Business Plans, putting them into "book" format will enhance your professionalism and increase your chances of success. We print on state-of-the-art digital presses using bright-white, 80lb stock to give you crisp, professional results. Our covers are printed in full color on bright-white, 100lb glossy stock and then laminated for a smooth, glossy finish.
If I choose the black and white printing, is the cover also in black and white?
No, the cover is always printed in color.
Can I really print just one copy?
Yes.
And it won't cost me any more?
No. Well, maybe. One book will cost you the same price per book as if you ordered 99. We do offer volume discounts for orders of more than 100 books (books must be shipped to the same address to qualify for volume discounts). However, you will pay a lot more in shipping if you order them one at a time, so we don't recommend it.
How much will it cost me?
We have a simple pricing* structure: Each black and white book costs $9.50 plus four cents ($.04) per page. Each color book costs $9.50 plus 30 cents ($.30) per page. We offer volume discounts for larger quantities as follows (quantity discounts apply only to the same book shipped to the same address):
- 101-250 books: 10% discount
- 251-500 books: 15% discount
- 501-1000 books: 20% discount
- 1000+ books: 25% discount

Questions About Documents Supported
What kinds of documents can I print?
We print only from PDF files to ensure that your printed book looks exactly like you intended. We print documents in either standard 8.5" x 11" (21.57cm x 27.94cm) letter size or 8" x 10" (20.3cm x 25.4cm) size (some additional sizes available upon request). The inside page are printed double-sided in either black-and-white or color (covers are always printed in color). All documents must be at least eight pages long, and no more than 800 pages long.
Can I print my documents in Microsoft® Word format?
No, we currently require that your documents be uploaded in Adobe® Acrobat® ("PDF") format. PDF ensures that your documents print the way that you want them to, and prevents them from being changed.
I don't own a copy of Acrobat. How can I make my documents into PDFs?
Here are some alternatives if you do not own a copy of Acrobat:
- Adobe has a plug-in for Word that enables you to save your Word documents in PDF form. Visit the Adobe website (http://www.adobe.com) for more information.
- You can use Adobe's online PDF creation tool at http://createpdf.adobe.com
- The OpenOffice application suite (available via free download at http://www.openoffice.org) can read Word files and has a PDF export function built in.
Are there any special requirements for making the PDF file?
Yes. You should be sure to embed all fonts, andfor best resultsset the compatibility to Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4). There is a 15MB limit on the file upload size. (A typical 50 page book is around 1MB, so the only time you should encounter a file size limit is if you're embedding lots of photos.)
All the pages in the file must be the same sizedo not include oversized pages or any spreads. We do not support perforated documents or other special paper handling instructions.
When creating the file, use at least 300 dpi resolution-and preferably 600 dpi-as the target printer resolution. The color space should be RGB for best color reproduction, though we do support CMYK. Do not use color corrected color spaces, as they will produce unpredictable results. Do not use spot colors (they'll be ignored).
If your document has any images or non-white backgrounds that extend to the edge of the page, you need to make the page larger so that when it is trimmed to size, you don't get any white around the edge. If you aren't printing anything outside of the normal page margins, you can ignore this.
Here are the image sizes required for pages that require a bleed:
| Book Size | Page Size* |
|---|---|
| 8" x 10" (20.32cm x 25.40cm) | 8.2" x 10.2" (20.83cm x 25.91cm) |
| 8.5" x 11" (21.59cm x 27.94cm) | 8.7" x 11.2" (22.10cm x 28.49cm) |
*Including bleed area.
I am using the PDF Maker utility in Word; how do I make adjustments for all the different settings?
The options for the PDF Maker utility are found in the AdobePDF menu, under Change Conversion Settings / Advanced Options.
Why is there printing on the spine of some books, but not on others?
The spine is the folded-over part of the cover where the pages are bound together. We can print a title on the spine if the book is thick enough. If your book is greater than 90 pages long, there will be an edit box at the bottom of the cover options page where you can enter/edit the title to be printed on the spine. We will also add the book number to the end of the spine text. However, if your book is less than 90 pages, the edit box will not be displayed, and we will not print anything on the spine because there is insufficient space to print a spine title on books with less than 90 pages.
Can I use our own custom covers?
Yes. You will need to create separate PDF files for the front and back outside covers, which you then upload on the cover options page. If the covers have a white background color, the files should be the same size as the rest of the document (8" x 10" or 8.5" x 11"). But if your covers have a different background color, or have any images that extend to the edge of the page, you'll need to add bleed to the covers to avoid having a thin white stripe along the edges of the covers when the book is trimmed to final size.
Please also note that it is not possible to print on the inside-front or inside-back covers respectively. Cover artwork should only be submitted for the outer front and back cover. The inside covers will be blank.
Here are the image sizes required for covers that require a bleed:
| Book Size | Cover Page Size* |
|---|---|
| 8" x 10" (20.32cm x 25.40cm) | 8.1" x 10.2" (20.57cm x 25.91cm) |
| 8.5" x 11" (21.59cm x 27.94cm) | 8.6" x 11.2" (21.84cm x 28.49cm) |
*Including bleed area.
Note: No bleed is required along the fold (spine) of the book, only along the outside edge.
Do you support A4 sizes?
Yes, but this requires a special order and a minimum of at least 50 units. Please see the Request for Quote page for our contact information to request a quotation for special orders in A4 or other sizes.
I can't see the watermark in the document preview. Is something wrong?
Probably not. To make the watermark light enough to print properly, it is almost invisible on the screen. The watermark is positioned roughly in the center of the page, tilted at a 45-degree angle. If you look carefully on pages where there is a fair amount of white space in the middle of the page, you should be able to make out the watermark.
Questions About Ordering Online
When I place an order, I'm sent to a QOOP shopping cart. Who are they?
Fundprinting.com is a part of QOOP, Inc. Fundprinting.com uses the QOOP web printing engine to deliver the highest quality, lowest cost printing to our customers. We also use their shopping cart to process credit card orders.
When will I get my order?
For All Orders: Your order will ship in 3-5 business days after you order (weekends and holidays are not considered business days and are not counted for purposes of determining printing and shipping time). Actual shipping time will depend upon your destination location and the shipping method chosen at the time you confirm your order. Because we have no control over third party shippers, we cannot guarantee delivery dates.
For Domestic (U.S.) Orders: Domestic orders sent via DHL Next Day will arrive the next business day after completion of printing. Domestic orders sent via DHL Ground generally arrive within 5-7 business days. When your order ships, you will receive shipper tracking information via email.
If you send large orders ( > 30 books) via DHL Ground, keep in mind that DHL treats each box shipped via Ground as a separate shipment, so you will likely not get your order all at the same time.
For International Orders: International orders sent via DHL normally arrive within 3-5 business days after completion of printing. Orders sent via international first class mail normally arrive 4-6 weeks after completion of printing. If you chose DHL Worldwide Express, we will email you the tracking number. Unfortunately, UPS/International mail delivery does not provide tracking numbers and with confidential documents, this method of shipping is not recommended. My order status has said "In Printing" for several days.
Yes, that is normal. Your order status will show "In Printing" until printing is completed and your order ships. Printing typically requires 3-5 business days.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide using DHL Worldwide Express and UPS/international mail. DHL Worldwide Express delivery times vary by country but it is faster and safer than the less expensive UPS/International mail option. With the recent strengthening of foreign currencies against the US dollar, international shipping has become very inexpensive on a per book basis. Please see the Request for Quote page for our contact information to optain international shipping quotes.
What type of shipping is used?
We ship via DHL for domestic US orders and we ship worldwide using DHL worldwide Express and UPS/international mail. For non-US orders, DHL Worldwide Express delivery times vary by country but it is faster and safer than the less expensive UPS/International mail option. For large orders, we can use your preferred shipping company and bill your account number, orto help reduce freight costswe can obtain quotes from other vendors that specialize in large shipments.
What is my international tracking number?
If you chose DHL worldwide Express, we will email you the tracking number. Unfortunately, UPS/International mail delivery does not provide tracking numbers. Therefore, we highly recommend that you use DHL or request us to use another express shipping company that provides tracking services for international shipments.

Questions About Fundprinting Books
What types of binding are available?
We offer the two most common binding types: saddle-stitching and perfect-binding.
Saddle-Stitching: Saddle-stitching is one of the simplest binding techniques and is widely used for magazines and other publications. Folded signatures (groups of pages) are placed over a "saddle" and then stapled along the spine. We use it for books that are too thin to be perfect bound.
Perfect-Binding: Perfect-binding is the most common binding method for paperback books in which the pages are held together by gluing them to the cover.
If you require a different type of binding, such as section-sewn casebound (hardbound), we can make these as well, although this requires a special order. Lead times for special orders are typically 3-4 weeks and require a minimum of 50 units. Please see the Request for Quote page for our contact information to request a quotation on your particular specifications.
What is the smallest or largest book length that I can generate?
The following table provides information on minimum and maximum page lengths for both perfect-bound and saddle-stitched books.
| Product | Minimum Page Length | Maximum Page Length |
|---|---|---|
| Saddle Stitch (2 staples on spine) | 8 | 26 |
| Perfect Bound | 27 | 800 |
Saddle stitch is automatically selected if you order a book smaller than 28 pages. If your book is over 28 pages, it will be perfect-bound.
